Up to three scholarships of $500 each can be awarded annually by ACWHE to outstanding women in the field of higher education to be applied toward the pursuit of advanced degrees. One of the three $500 scholarships will be awarded to an applicant from a two-year college in honor of the Arkansas Association of Women in Two-Year Colleges‘ (AAWTYC) support.
ACWHE also awards the Sharon Eichenberger Scholarship each year in the amount of $750 to one applicant.
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must:
- be a full-time female faculty or staff members currently employed by an institution of higher education that is a current institutional member of ACWHE.
- hold at least a bachelor’s degree.
- have been accepted into a graduate program.
Applicants must submit a completed application form along with a cover letter explaining their career goals or aspirations, how the scholarship with assist with their degree plans or career goals, and the intended use of the degree sought.
Deadline: March 31, 2018
The application form and cover letter must be emailed to the Scholarship Committee Chair Dr. Bennie Prince by the deadline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that documents are received by the deadline. The Committee Chair will acknowledge receipt of each application.
The Scholarship Committee will review applications and select the recipient(s). The final decision will be based upon the completed application packet as outlined above. The chair will inform all applicants, in a timely manner, of the recipient(s) selected. The Scholarship recipient(s) will be announced at the spring meeting.
Funds from the scholarship must be applied toward an advanced degree at an accredited institution of higher learning either during the summer or academic year following the award. Checks will be disbursed immediately prior to the first academic session in which the recipient is enrolled. The scholarship recipient will be asked to attend a future meeting to thank the organization and provide an update on educational progress.
