Leadership Excellence Award: Awarded to a member of the Executive Council who has shown exceptional leadership of ACWHE and mentorship to other members. 

2024 Recipient:

Dr. Dana Tribble

Arkansas Tech University

Dr. Dana Tribble is the current ACWHE president. Her nomination included the following: “Dr. Tribble always does a great job of setting an example. She displays exceptional leadership in everything that she does, whether it is in her role of president of ACWHE, or teaching, or coordinating the freshman orientation classes at her university. She is an inspiration. She recognizes the importance of support of women in higher education and is aware of the unique issues that we face. She is always there to be a professional reference to a job or further education, and is an avid supporter of the success of anyone she mentors. Dr. Tribble actively recruited members for the board of ACWHE and she has a passion for making this organization grow. It is an important initiative, and she has done a great job as the president.”

Outstanding Member Award: Awarded to a member to recognize their outstanding and noteworthy contributions to ACWHE, their university, and fellow professionals. The award is not designed to recognize a single achievement, but rather collective contributions complemented by singular works exemplifying the objectives and attributes of ACWHE. 

2024 Recipient:

Krystal Shipp

Arkansas Tech University

Krystal Shipp is the current ACWHE membership coordinator. Her nomination included the following: “Krystal always promotes ACWHE on social media and spreads the word about events that ACWHE is hosting. She is passionate about ACWHE’s mission. She is always volunteering to assist with projects that the board needs to accomplish. She is willing to helps others when needed. She updated the website with this year’s board members, and it looks amazing. She is always doing her best to promote ACWHE and members within the organization. Krystal is great!”

Rising Star Award: Awarded to a graduate student or entry-level professional who has shown exceptional promise and made a significant impact within their work.

2024 Recipient:

Melissa South

Arkansas Tech University

Melissa’s nominations included the following: “Melissa has recently moved to the ATU Office of Alumni and has fully invested herself into the work that they are accomplishing on campus. She is present at various alumni events and helps engage all of ATU alumni into giving back to their institution. She brings a new perspective to the Office of Alumni Relations, as she is also a graduate student and is able to closely relate to both students and alumni.”

Significant Scholarship in Women’s Leadership In Higher Education Award: Awarded to a professional who has contributed to the advancement and scholarship of higher education.

2024 Recipient:

Sarah Gordon

Arkansas Tech University

Dr. Sarah Gordon is the current 3rd Vice President for ACWHE. Her nomination included the following:  “Sarah has established herself as an accomplished researcher in higher education.  Since 2016, she has served as an author on 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and one book chapter and given 30 peer-reviewed presentations. She has given 25 invited talks/presentations and been a part of grant applications teams for 10 state and national/federal level grants.  Her most recent significant scholarship is in press and titled “Accreditation shifts:  Higher education and student affairs’ maturing student success movement.”
